In addition, I suspect this fix does not work with all WP packages/versions. I think some versions of WP default back to use of enhanced file dialogs. Make sure to hit "apply" after unchecking the "use enhanced file dialogs" box and then do a total shut down (not just a re-start). Here is the link (Google cache) where the fix was found. Having nothing to lose by trying it, I went ahead and so far it has worked like a charm and apparently the same simple fix has resolved a lot of other crash issues related to opening, closing, and saving. I had no idea what “Wine” meant, but by that point I would have tired stuffing a dead albatross in the tower if someone said it would work. Uncheck the “Use enhanced file dialogs” box. WordPerfect will probably crash opening an existing document or saving a new document unless the enhanced dialogues are disabled first. WARNING - Enhanced File Dialogues do not work under Wineīy default, WordPerfect uses 'enhanced' (Explorer-like) file dialogues. Even if re-opened with a backup copy appearing, the backup copy could not retained. Within a few days, virtually every attempt to save document caused a crash. Everything worked fine for about a week until attempts to save a document started to crash WordPerfect. After switching to Windows Vista (64 bit), WordPerfect Office X3 was installed using normal installation (i.e., not a custom install).
